Dance is for Everyone

Studio 33 is a recreational and competitive dance studio serving dancers in Upshur County and beyond. At Studio 33 Dance Center, we believe that dance is for everyone, transcending age, background, and experience. Our mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every individual can discover the joy of movement, express their unique creativity, and build confidence through the art of dance. By fostering a supportive community and offering diverse programs tailored to all skill levels, we aim to inspire, uplift, and connect people through the universal language of dance.
Our Classes
-
Ballet
Ballet is the foundation of many dance forms and provides the grace, poise, and technique needed to be proficient in all other areas of dance. Ballet classes will help dancers with posture, flexibility, fitness, balance, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
-
Jazz
Jazz is a fun, high-energy dance form that develops technique, rhythm, and style while building strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Jazz dance has a focus on progressions including turns, kicks, and leaps.
-
Lyrical
Lyrical is an extension of ballet technique that challenges dancers to use choreography and movement to interpret music and express themselves. Dancers learn to channel their emotions alongside their dance technique to tell a story.
-
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a style of interpretive dance that embraces innovation, blending techniques from various genres including ballet, jazz, lyrical, and even hip hop. This genre of dance relies on improvisation and versatility and is characterized by freedom of movement and fluidity.
-
Hip Hop/Hippity Hop
A high-energy class incorporating hip hop choreography and foundational techniques such as popping, locking, footwork, and break dancing.
For our teenies, hippity hop is a 20-minute class in combination with teeny ballet that adds a dash of jazz, hip hop, and swag for your tiny dancers to become comfortable and confident on the dance floor.
-
TLC (Turns, Leaps, and Conditioning)
TLC is a technique class in which dancers will work on flexibility, control, body alignment, and strength needed for skills such as jumps, leaps, turns, extensions, and floorwork. This class is designed for the serious dancer who wishes to perfect and refine their skills. TLC is a non-performance class but will certainly enhance your dancer’s performance in all other styles.
-
Twirl Tots
Our Twirl Tot classes are the perfect introduction to the world of dance for future dancers. Grownups and dancers learn and play together as they move to the music, practice beginning dance technique, and participate in fun games. Both adults and dancers are invited to do a special dance together at the spring recital.
-
Adult Classes
We offer various adult dance clinics, working on a new dance style each month. Adult classes are focused on fitness, community building, and the joy of movement. Dancers of all ages and experience levels are welcome! Current clinics are announced on our “schedule” page and the Studio 33 Facebook page.
-
Private Lessons
Private and semi-private lessons are available to all mini and older dancers. We offer solos, duets, and trios for dancers to have additional challenges and performance opportunities. Dancers can also schedule private lessons just to work on skills and technique.
